What do big hair and ballots have in common?

Friends,
I can’t get Europe’s “The Final Countdown” out of my head. Why is this? Could it be that I really like spandex and big hair? While I do maintain great love for 80’s pop culture, the main reason is THIS IS THE FINAL COUNTDOWN.

After months of campaigning it comes down to these last few hours. We have spent the past year telling Seattle through media, direct mail, TV, door-to-door, on the phones the differences between Nick and myself:

  • He stalls, I work for solutions.
  • He talks about public safety, I demand more cops on our streets.
  • He sues Sound Transit, I Ride the Wave.
At the end of this campaign I want to walk away knowing that we did all we could to take back our city. I want to make sure that there wasn’t a voter that could have heard the message that didn’t because I was tired or uninspired that day.

I know that you all are counting down with me and I appreciate your willingness to step up, persuade loved ones, and convince your neighbors. Here are a few last opportunities to be a part of this team:

  1. We are doorbelling & phone banking until the end. Every day there is an opportunity. I buy pizza for those who turn out.
  2. November 2nd and 3rd we will be waving signs during commute hours at several locations to remind folks to mail their ballots.
  3. Election night the party starts at 7pm. The results are in by 8:15pm. TEAM JESSIE and TEAM SALLY BAGSHAW will be celebrating together at the Spitfire in Belltown.
For all of the above, email the boss (jessecabrand@gmail.com, 206-321-7723) to get details.

I couldn't have done this without you. These next few days, we’re aiming to do what Europe never could: lead with the final countdown and end with another hit.

When we win on Tuesday, I promise it will all be worth it.

Jessie

P.S. If you havn't heard the song "The Final Countdown," then click here. And apologies in advance for putting this extremely catchy one-hit-wonder from the '80's in your head. Now that it's there, lets hum our way to victory.
